A frantic search has been launched for a seven-year-old boy who has gone missing.
An urgent appeal was issued after little Carson Shepherd, 7, vanished from Afton Bridgend in New Cumnock, East Ayrshire on Sunday night.
East Ayrshire Police took to social media at about 10.20pm to appeal for help in tracking down the youngster.
The public are being urged to check garden sheds, gardens and garages.
A police statement issued online reads: “Carson Shepherd age 7 Missing from Afton Bridgend New Cumnock.
“Urge Public to check garden sheds, gardens, garages and not to assume someone else has done it – right now 2220hrs.”
Anyone with information that may help assist police in their search can get in touch, quoting incident number 2021 0919- 3162.
The appeal has since been shared thousands of times as locals expressed their concern over the boy’s disappearance.
One person wrote: “[Oh my God] I hope this wee lamb is found safe & well real soon, so dark & late for a wee boy to be out on his own.”
Another said: “Please get your scent dogs onto this straight away. People check their dash cam and CCTV videos. Hope he’s found safe God bless him and protect him.”
A third person said: “Can’t begin to imagine what this wee boys family are going through praying he turns up safe and well.”
Another wrote: “This is just awful, especially at night. Aw God, what must his poor mum and dad be feeling.
“I’m praying soo hard that Carson is found safe and well and very soon.”
Reports on social media say that local residents and those living further afield have volunteered to help with the search effort.
