What’s the latest situation for the London area?
The Middlesex-London Health Unit (MLHU) reported 26 new COVID-19 cases on Friday and no deaths.
The latest tally comes after 453 people were tested for the virus at the Carling Heights assessment centre. There were an additional 17 cases of the delta variant confirmed for the region, bringing the total to 627 since late May.
The health unit posted 16 recoveries on Friday, with 197 known active cases in the region. The rolling seven-day average of daily cases is up slightly to 22.
London Health Sciences Centre says it is treating eight patients with COVID-19-related illnesses. There are five or fewer patients in adult critical care and no patients being cared for at the Children’s Hospital.
Five or fewer staff members at the hospital network have tested positive for the virus and are in quarantine.
COVID-19 cases at London schools
There were two additional cases of COVID-19 reported by the Thames Valley District School Board:
- Cedar Hollow Public School
- Westfield Public School
Those impacted by the cases have been contacted directly by the school board. There have been no outbreaks declared at any schools or child care centres.
There have now been 25 cases of COVID-19 reported at London-area schools and two cases at child care centres in September.
Here’s where the pop-up vaccination clinics are
The MLHU is hosting two pop-up clinics on Friday:
- London Public Library – East London Branch, 2016 Dundas Street, available until 4 p.m.
- White Oaks Mall, 1105 Wellington Rd, London, available until 7 p.m.
The pop-up clinic at White Oaks Mall will continue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
COVID-19 updates across the region
Southwestern Public Health reported 18 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday and no new deaths. There are currently 85 ongoing cases in Elgin-Oxford, including 25 in Woodstock, 11 in St. Thomas and nine in Tillsonburg.
Huron Perth Public Heath reported four new COVID-19 cases and no deaths on Friday. There are 37 known active cases in the region, including 11 in Stratford.
