Tidal Rum smashes crowdfunding target – The Spirits Business

British start-up Tidal Rum has surpassed its crowdfunding goal of £150,000 (US$204,600) with seven days left in its campaign.

Tidal Rum’s opened its crowdfunding campaign in September

Tidal Rum maker Shorts Boy Distillery was founded in 2019 by Harry Couthard and Ben Clyde-Smith.

Last month, the duo launched a Seedrs crowdfunding page to raise money for the rum brand’s expansion in the on-trade.

As of today, with one week to go before the campaign closes, Tidal Rum has raised £202,325 (around US$275,884) from 228 investors – 134% of its original target.

Inspired by the Channel Islands, Tidal is a blend of four cask-matured rums from Jamaica, Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Trinidad.

It is infused with ‘lightly oak smoked’ pepper dulse seaweed – a botanical found on the shores of Jersey.

The brand already works with distributors including Matthew Clark, Amathus Drinks, Enotria & Coe and Speciality Drinks, and plans to use its newly raised funds to amplify its sales, marketing and social media presence.
