Irish Distillers-owned Irish whiskey brand Redbreast is offering the chance to win a bottle of its ‘sought-after’ 29-year-old Dream Cask expression.
With high demand expected for its fourth-annual Dream Cask bottling, Redbreast has given consumers across the UK the chance to win a bottle by finding one of six golden corks hidden among its latest release of Redbreast 12.
The Redbreast Dream Cask Oloroso Sherry Edition is a single pot still Irish whiskey, produced by vatting four whiskeys aged for a minimum of 29 years in ex-Bourbon, Sherry and ruby Port seasoned casks. These whiskeys were married in a single oloroso Sherry butt from Jerez de la Frontera in Spain, then left to mature for a further 15 months.
Just 924 bottles of the 29 year-old whiskey have been produced.
Redbreast has partnered with Master of Malt for the campaign, with the winning bottles of the 12-year-old expression among the online shop’s stock.
Ian Peart, commercial director at Irish Distillers’ owners Pernod Ricard UK, said: “Our new ‘golden cork’ campaign offers six lucky winners the chance to secure a bottle of the latest Redbreast Dream Cask.
“The consolation for anyone who purchases a bottle of our Redbreast 12 Year Old, but isn’t lucky enough to find a golden cork, is that they still get to enjoy an outstanding and multi award-winning single pot still Irish whiskey.”
Master Blender, Billy Leighton, said: “Our 2019 release sold out at a rate of 65 bottles per minute. Due to this phenomenal demand, we have since sought to make this highly sought-after annual release as equitable as possible, introducing a new balloting system in 2020.”
The latest Redbreast Dream Cask release will be available through a ballot hosted on Redbreast’s online members’ club, The Birdhouse.
The ballot will be live until 2pm on Tuesday 25 May, with successful participants able to purchase one 500ml bottle at an RRP of €520 (US$635).
The online ballot opened for entries yesterday (17 May), and remains open until 2pm on 25 May.
With an ABV of 51.2%, the bottling offers ‘notes of dark brown sugar, succulent berries and vanilla’.
