RHOA: Nene Leakes Opens Up About Her New Normal Following Gregg’s Passing

Nene Leakes, an alum from RHOA, opened up on social media about adjusting to her new normal following the passing of her husband, Gregg Leakes.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Nene Leakes took to social media, where she opened up about her new normal following the passing of her husband, Gregg Leakes. His passing was announced days after Nene had admitted to a group at her club, The Linnethia Lounge, that her husband was “transitioning to the other side.” A recording of Nene’s revelation quickly hit the internet, leaving fans and some of her former castmates to send Nene their love and support.

Gregg lost his battle with colon cancer earlier this month after it returned earlier this June. He was initially diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2018 but went into remission after six months of chemotherapy. However, his illness took a turn for the worse this past summer after Nene revealed his cancer had returned. Since then, the former reality star was focusing on her family and building her new career as a club owner.

On Thursday, Nene shared a series of Instagram Stories where she spoke out in person for the first time since Gregg lost his battle with cancer. The 53-year-old admitted that she has her “good days and bad days,” following her husband’s passing. To help take her mind off her grief for a moment, Nene, who posted a video after Gregg’s death, decided to change up her hair and go blonde. “So I played in dark hair long enough. Now that I’m having to adjust to my new life. My new normal. I thought I’d go back to blonde,” she began her Story before sharing how wonderful her support system at home has been. “I have a whole group of people that’s coming to my house every day doing different stuff with me […] Trying to keep my mind off of […] Events that recently happened,” Nene shared.

She added, “love you guys. I’m OK, and I’m pushing through.” The long-time housewife went on to explain that she was told it was normal to have those ups and downs in her emotions and is doing her best to deal with them. On Thursday, Nene, who received condolences from Andy Cohen, felt like taking a trip to the salon as she usually has someone come over and do her hair for her. Nene revealed that she wanted to be around other people and knew it would be better to get out, instead of staying inside by herself. The lounge owner went on to thank her fans for all the condolences and love she has received over the past few weeks. The following day she also thanked everyone for all the flowers and beautiful gifts she has received over the past month.

Nene is doing her best to adjust to her new life without Gregg. The couple may have had some ups and downs in their past, but they always loved each other. Not only did they get remarried on a special episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, but Gregg and Nene, who received support from cast members, were always a support system for each other through the years. Even though Gregg is no longer with Nene physically, she will always have him in her heart.
