Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity’s Expansion Pass Wave 2: Guardian of Remembrance has new characters, story missions, stages, and abilities.
Months after the announcement of Wave 1, Nintendo has revealed Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Expansion Pass Wave 2: Guardian of Remembrance. A trailer in the September 2021 Nintendo Direct teased new story content, characters, and powers coming to Hyrule Warriors in the near future. Many details concerning Age of Calamity Expansion Pass Wave 2 remain unrevealed, however, but more will likely be announced next month as the DLC’s release date draws closer.
Perhaps Wave 2’s most anticipated addition to Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is Purah, paired with Robbie as a playable character duo. It’s not clear exactly how this works, but it could be similar to the Super Smash Bros. Ice Climbers duo. Purah and Robbie appear to use various inventions for their attacks, dealing devastating AOE damage. Their kit comes complete with a motorized cart to ride across Hyrule. The Age of Calamity Wave 2 expansion will also include another character, though their identity is currently unknown.
In addition to new warriors, those who purchase Guardians of Remembrance get access to several new story missions. The first is Battle for Kakariko Village, a prominent location in several Zelda games. Breath of the Wild’s Kakariko Village is vital for progressing the main questline and is home to many important characters, including Age of Calamity’s Impa. The second is Battle of Goponga Village. In Breath of the Wild, this location is only found as the Goponga Village Ruins, which may not bode well for the battle’s outcome. Age of Calamity Wave 2 also promises even more story content, but Nintendo didn’t reveal specifics.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Wave 2 Brings New Stages & More
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Wave 2 also introduces a new stage called Coliseum. The trailer doesn’t reveal the Coliseum’s appearance, meaning fans will likely have to wait until release for full details, but a destroyed Coliseum does appear in BOTW’s Hyrule. More stages are also promised but are being kept secret for now. Existing characters in Age of Calamity will also receive improvements, with new actions to use in battle.
The September Nintendo Direct livestream revealed brief glimpses of many Nintendo projects, and more are likely on the way. Age of Calamity’s continued development is likely a welcome treat for many Zelda fans, who can also look forward to Breath of the Wild 2 in 2022.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Wave 2: Guardian of Remembrance will be available on October 26, 2021, for Nintendo Switch.
